Quick answers, and how to reach us.
Getting started
How do I connect my phone?
Open GetCast on your TV. Point your phone camera at the QR code, or open the address shown on the TV and type the four-digit PIN. Your phone and TV must be on the same Wi-Fi network. Nothing needs to be installed on the phone.
The PIN is rejected or the page will not open
Check that both devices use the same Wi-Fi network (guest networks often block devices from seeing each other). The PIN changes each time the app starts, so read the current one from the TV screen. After five wrong tries a device is locked out for five minutes.
Does it work on iPhone, Android and computers?
Yes, any modern browser can send files and links. Sharing your computer screen works from a computer browser. It is not available from phone or tablet browsers.
Sending things
Which files and links work?
Videos, music, photos, and documents (PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, text and CSV). Video links can be MP4, HLS (.m3u8) or DASH (.mpd). GetCast plays media with your TV's own decoders and does not convert it, so a format your TV cannot decode will not play. Files can be up to 512 MB each.
Can I send several files at once?
Yes. When something is already playing, new files and links join a queue of up to 20 items and play in order. Photos advance after a few seconds, documents advance when you press next at the end.
How do I stop playback?
Press Back on the TV remote, or use Stop in the web page.
Live TV and Baby Monitor
Where do the channels come from?
GetCast does not provide channels or content. Add your own playlist (M3U) or Xtream details and an optional TV guide address in the web page under Live TV & Guide. Ask your provider for these.
How do I add a baby camera?
Open the GetCast web page on your phone, go to Baby Monitor, and add the camera's RTSP address. Most cameras show it in their own app under "RTSP" or "Advanced settings". The camera and TV must be on the same network. GetCast does not provide cameras.
