Privacy Policy

GetCast is an Android TV app developed by 4B DIGITAL LTD ("we", "us"). We are the controller of any personal data described in this policy. This policy explains what GetCast does with information. The short version: GetCast has no accounts, no ads and no analytics, and we do not collect your personal data. Everything you send stays on your home network.

How GetCast works

GetCast runs on your TV. When you scan the QR code or enter the PIN, your phone, tablet or computer connects to the TV over your local Wi-Fi using its normal web browser. Files, links and screen sharing go straight from that device to your TV. They are not uploaded to our servers, because we do not operate any servers for GetCast.

What stays on your TV

• Files you send (videos, music, photos, documents) are kept temporarily on the TV while they are shown and deleted when the session ends or you stop them.
• Device names. The TV shows the name of each connected device, such as "iPhone Safari". If you choose "Always allow" for a device in a meeting, the TV remembers a random identifier for it. You can remove it on the Devices screen.
• Settings you enter are stored on the TV only: your Live TV playlist and TV guide addresses, favorites, locked channels, the optional parental PIN, Baby Monitor camera addresses, and your language choice.

Removing these is as simple as clearing the fields in the settings page, revoking a device, or uninstalling the app, which deletes everything GetCast stored on the TV.

Information we collect

None. GetCast does not include advertising, analytics or crash-reporting services, and it does not send information about you or your device to us.

Connections the app makes

• Your own sources. When you add a playlist, TV guide, Xtream address or camera address, the TV connects to that address to fetch the content. That service is run by someone else and has its own privacy practices. GetCast does not provide channels, films or cameras.
• Movie information (TMDb). For on-demand entries in your playlist, the TV can look up a poster and a short description. This sends the cleaned movie title, and inevitably your IP address, to The Movie Database (themoviedb.org) and loads posters from its image servers. This product uses the TMDb API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDb.
• Payments. GetCast is currently free. If paid features are ever offered, Google Play handles the payment and we do not see your payment details.

Permissions on the TV

• Network access to receive what you send and to fetch the addresses you add.
• Multicast and Wi-Fi state so other devices on your network can find the TV.
• Foreground service and wake lock to keep the receiver and playback running.
• Start at boot so the receiver is ready when the TV starts.
• Display over other apps to bring the GetCast screen to the front when you send something.
• Screen capture only if you choose to share the TV screen with other browsers on your network. Android asks for your permission every time, and you can stop at any time.

Security

Connections on your home network use plain HTTP protected by the PIN or a one-time QR token. A wrong PIN is limited to five tries every five minutes. Sessions end when you disconnect, end the meeting, or after a period of inactivity. Use GetCast on a network you trust. Avoid public or guest Wi-Fi.

This website (getcast.app)

The website sets no cookies and has no analytics, advertising or tracking tools. Its pages load fonts from Google Fonts, so when a page loads your browser contacts Google's servers and your IP address is visible to Google (see Google's privacy policy). Our web hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, time and page requested) to run and protect the site. If you email us, we use your email address and message only to reply to you. Our lawful basis for this is our legitimate interest in answering questions, and the messages you choose to send us.

Where information goes

GetCast does not send information about you to us. The connections described above, for example to TMDb, go to those services' own servers, which may be outside the UK and EU, including in the United States. If you email us, your message reaches our email provider.

United States residents

We do not sell or share your personal information, and the app does not collect it. The website does not track visitors across other websites, so a "Do Not Track" signal changes nothing. Residents of California and other US states may have rights to know, correct or delete personal information a business holds about them. As above, the only personal information we may hold is the email you send us; if you would like it deleted or a copy of it, email us. GetCast is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Children

GetCast is not directed at children and is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone. If you use the parental PIN for Live TV, it is stored only on your TV.

Your rights

Because we do not collect or hold your personal data, there is normally nothing for us to access, correct or delete. If you believe we hold information about you, or you have any question about your rights under UK or EU data protection law, email us and we will respond. If you are in the UK, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Changes to this policy

If GetCast changes in a way that affects this policy, we will update it here and change the date above.
